Budget and Finance for Non-Financial Managers

Participants will learn the basics of municipal budgeting and finance, including how the process works, how to read basic documents, and how to use basic financial and budget tools.  This workshop begins the process of transforming mysterious financial language and concepts into tools that leaders, regardless of level in the organization, can use to help them make more successful operational decisions every single day.

This curriculum achieves the following objectives:

• Review of financial terms and concepts
• Review cash flow and working capital management
• Understand the concepts and processes of setting, monitoring and complying with the budget
• Overcome the negative perceptions of the budgeting process
• Understand cost and break-even analysis
• Understand project analysis and evaluation
